Over 500,000t of hay stocked up in Belarus

Some 504,100 tonnes of hay has been stockpiled in Belarus, the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

As of 14 July, as part of the second grass cutting agricultural workers cut down grass on 61.7% of the designated area in Brest Oblast, 8.7% in Vitebsk Oblast, 38.6% in Gomel Oblast, 33.2% in Grodno Oblast, 44.8% in Minsk Oblast, and 29.8% in Mogilev Oblast. Grass was harvested from 316,600ha of land, 83.4% of the grass that was cut.

Belarusian agricultural workers produced 504,100 tonnes of hay (52.8% of the target), 9.551 million tonnes of haylage (71.1%), and 260,400 tonnes of silage (1.36%).

Plans have been made to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of feed units out of grass this year. So far 31.4% of the targeted amount has been made. Belarusian farmers are supposed to stock up on nearly 19.8 million tonnes of silage, 13.2 million tonnes of haylage (including 1 million tonnes in polymeric packaging), and 955,200 tonnes of hay.

In addition to that, winter barley was harvested from 32,600ha of land (54.6% of the targeted area), with 163,800 tonnes produced. Winter rapeseed was gathered in from 4,260ha of land or 35.5% of the targeted area.
