Belarus approves key investment projects for 2014

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Belarus has approved the list of the key investment projects for implementation in 2014. The Council of Ministers adopted the relevant Decree No.380 on 23 April 2014, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian government.

“The list includes 22 investment projects that will be implemented, first of all, in the production sector of the economy, i.e. chemical and food industry, railway and aviation transport, construction and agricultural sectors. All the projects underwent the expert selection of the Economy Ministry and government bodies,” said representatives of the government commenting on the document.

The projects envisage the launch of the production of import-substituting and export-oriented products, the implementation of innovation technology and resource-saving principles. These projects will help enhance the competitive ability and performance of domestic companies.

Thus, there are plans for new capacities at OAO BelAZ to manufacture rock haulers with the total payload ranging from 90t to 450t, modernization and installation of new production lines at OAO MAZ, OAO MTZ and OAO Gomselmash, renewal of the rolling stock at the Belarusian Railways and the fleet of OAO Belavia aircraft. The projects also envisage the construction of an ore-dressing and processing plant at the Sitnitskoye deposit, chemical production at OAO Grodno Azot, modernization and construction of new production lines at OAO Babushkina Krynka and OAO Bobruisk Meat Packing Plant, a number of sugar-processing plants, and other matters.

“Representatives of the government bodies and oblast executive committees have been placed in charge of the implementation of the projects. The move will allow improving the responsibility for the implementation of the country’s pivotal projects, secure their timely implementation and the efficient use of investment resources,” the government said.
