CIS Heads of Government Council to sit in Minsk 30 May

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – The Heads of Government Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States will meet in Minsk on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

It is expected that the CIS Prime Ministers will consider over 20 draft documents on cooperation. The participants of the meeting will analyze the progress made in 2013 in the implementation of the CIS interstate innovation cooperation program through 2020 and its action plan for 2012-2014.

The Premiers are expected to sign agreements that regulate cooperation in the interstate sharing of information in the field of transportation, the CIS interstate radio-navigation program, and introduce amendments to the rules of defining the country of origin of goods.

Apart from that, the session will touch upon humanitarian issues. In particular, the participants of the meeting will work out measures aimed at the development of national sports in the CIS, fight foot-and-mouth threats. A number of educational establishments will be given a status of basic CIS organizations.

As for the security area, the Premiers will consider the issues related to the return of the underaged to the country of their habitual residence, mitigation of the consequences of natural and manmade disasters, survey and navigation support of the armed forces and cooperation of the engineering troops of the armed forces of the CIS in humanitarian demining.

Besides, the CIS Heads of Government Council will assess the activity of the two cooperation bodies, i.e. the Interstate Antimonopoly Policy Council and the CIS Cultural Cooperation Council.

The heads of government will take a number of financial and personnel decisions.
