Deflation recorded in Belarus in October

10.11.2022
Belarus had deflation in October, Deputy Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Andrei Kartun told journalists on 9 November, BelTA has learned.

“The price regulation system has been in place for almost three weeks. Initially, there was a barrage of inquiries and requests. More than 500 written inquiries and requests came in every day. There was also an online platform to submit an inquiry, plus we ran a hotline for clarifying the pricing procedure. There were many questions, especially regarding the non-food segment and fewer about the food segment since the food industry had already been subject to price regulation and all approaches were known. We already see that our decisions are bearing fruit. We had deflation in October. And inflation will slow down significantly throughout the year,” Andrei Kartun said.

As BelTA reported earlier, in October Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko passed Executive Order No. 10 to prevent price rises. After that the government adopted Resolution No. 713 on state regulation of prices for consumer goods.
